Kanarraville Falls has become a fairly popular hike in Utah these days. There is a good reason for that. While there are arguments on both sides whether this is a good or bad thing, there is no argument of the fact that this is an extraordinarily beautiful destination in the Southwest.
I was fortunate enough to visit this area on a whim after spending a few days roaming around Zion National Park in the Fall. I had heard of the area and didn’t really know much about it. The hike to the falls is beautiful enough itself and showcases a lot of what the Southwest is known for. I was lucky to run into a fellow landscape photographer who gave me a tip on another location as I was hiking up the canyon and had I not, I would have never even known about the whole other part of the canyon that waited for me.
The light was gorgeous and the crowds were gone. I had the area to myself for hours this day. Standing in the rushing waters I couldn’t have asked for anything better. You can sit and explore the canyon walls as the light bounces around creating different shapes and colors and even faces in the sandstone. It really is a wonderful place to visit and lose yourself if you can.
