Archangel Falls. There are a lot of other names that this particular cascade of water you encounter on the hike to The Subway in Zion National Park is known by, but that name is particularly striking and fitting to me. It’s the beginning the most scenic stretch of this grueling hike, even though then entire hike is amazing. You stand in awe at your surroundings and wonder how you got here after scrambling for miles over boulders, sloshing through water, and pushing yourself on and on. It’s a test, but it sure is worth it for views like these. My good friend and I decided to make the hike after a Fall snowstorm blew through the park the day before. We weren’t sure what we were going to find as neither one of us had ever been there before. Water levels were a bit higher than expected and there was even a bit of snow on the ground still. It was cold. It was rainy. Snow blew through the canyon off and on. It was a glorious day. I need to go back.
