Landscape photography is an interesting hobby/profession/pastime. It can take you to your backyard and to the far corners of the Earth in search for amazing light and amazingly scenic landscapes. Just was the case for this image of mine coming to you from the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.
Nevada you must be thinking? Yup, Nevada. This park is truly a gem in the middle of nowhere and definitely warrants a bit of your time if you in the Las Vegas area. One such area that requires only a short hike is the now fairly famous Fire Wave.
It’s small but spectacular and one of the coolest places I’ve had the good fortune to visit. Luckily the sunset decided to somewhat show up for this photo and add that extra little splash to the scene. It’s far too easy here to get caught up in the more traditional compositions of the scene and you have to work a bit to find something others haven’t photographed to death. Whether or not I succeeded at that with this image is yet to be determined, but I’m pretty happy with the end result.
